RONALDO SUCCESSOR REVEALED

Portuguese coach Jorge Simao is convinced that Liverpool attacker Diogo Jota is the natural successor to Cristiano Ronaldo. He made this known during an exclusive interview with The Athletic. Simao believes that the new Liverpool signing has the quality to reach the level of the Portuguese international skipper.

Jorge Simaowas a coach at Portuguese Super League club Pacos de Ferreira when Diogo Jota was developing as a player. Jota left Pacos de Ferreira for Spanish La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in 2016. The petite forward was then loaned back to Portugal by the Rojiblancos. Jota signed for Portuguese champions FC Porto immediately after he signed for Atletico Madrid.

When he moved to FC Porto, Jorge Simao granted an interview to a website as he said that Jota is the heir to the reign of Cristiano Ronaldo who has been a fantastic servant for the Portuguese national team over the last 15 years. In the following season, Jota signed for another team on loan.

He signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan in 2017 before his loan deal was made a permanent one in 2018. He didn’t make a single appearance for Atletico Madrid during his two-year stay with the Rojiblancos. His time at Atletico was spent on loan with two clubs namely FC Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He spent two years at Wolves where he netted 44 goals in 131 outings at the Molineux in his three years with the Midlands club. Jota spent one year as a loanee plus two years as a permanent player. Jota left Wolves for Liverpool this summer in a £45m deal and he has made a fantastic start to his career at the club.

When Simao congratulated Jota on his Liverpool transfer earlier this summer, he sent him the interview where he said the new Reds player is the heir to the Cristiano Ronaldo football empire. Jota has scored seven goals in 11 Liverpool games this season.
